Moreover, cities tend to have limited information on the health of water-related infrastructure, which means most networks are unmapped and unmanaged, resulting in city officials relying on local knowledge and the use of sounding rods to identify pipeline locations (Aquatech, 2020).

As a small, yet growing coastal city, Copenhagen is working to protect residents against the impacts of climate change, which are often seen in the shape of severe rainfall events (or cloudbursts). In 2016, a Danish nature design company began designing the city's largest and greenest cloudburst adaptation project at Sankt Kjelds Square and Bryggervangen. By transforming the grey urban area into a green space that uses ecosystem services to protect the area from flooding, there have been significant benefits seen, ranging from social to environmental as residents take advantage of the area to socialize and play. While there are numerous examples of green infrastructure around the world, considerable political will and investment is required to bring such a project into fruition.

ORDA Ethiopia's work highlights the critical issue of the absence or inadequacy of gender-disaggregated data in water management, which perpetuates the invisibility of women's contributions and challenges. ORDA Ethiopia's intervention in the Amhara region focuses on systematic data collection and analysis to address this gap. By utilizing diverse methods such as interviews, focus groups, and key informant consultations, and incorporating gender perspectives into all project stages, ORDA Ethiopia has tailored interventions to enhance gender equality and development outcomes. Positive results include improved sanitation access for women and girls, increased female participation in community decisions, and broader recognition of women's roles. Despite these advancements, budget constraints pose significant challenges to comprehensive data collection. Addressing these challenges through investment in training and technology is crucial for mainstreaming gender considerations in water management and ensuring equitable development.
